So this is an amusing story, or at least I think so.
I was out wakeboarding the other day (I'm trying to get as much wakeboarding in as I can before fall weather starts to set in), and I was getting a lot more confident about what I was doing. So I decided that I was going to try to jump the wake high enough to do some kind of trick.
There were a couple kayakers practicing kayaking near the shore, but I didn't even notice them.
So I steered my board out of the wake. The water was perfect, the wake was perfect, and I was mentally prepared to really JUMP (before that I had been doing little bunny hops, but nothing major). Then I steer back toward the wake super fast, knees bent, hands firmly on the rope bar, and...
the boat stops. I sink into the water, very confused. And disappointed.
My mom drives the boat back around to pick me up, and I ask, "What was that?!"
"I thought the kayaker was drowning!"
So I look over and finally notice that there are two kayakers practicing near the shore in a couple of white-water kayaks. APPARENTLY, one of the kayakers was practicing rolling. I don't know how many of you have been white-water kayaking, but you generally need to learn how to roll your kayak back upward if you get tipped over. The best way to practice is in a calm lake, or a calm river.
And I didn't end up doing a big, amazing jump :( |

| | My Best Fiend - Hot Hot Heat | ] | So I've spent all day writing and shopping. I think it was a good day :D
Except it's 2:30am, and I'm not sure I can get to sleep. My boyfriend-person-ish and I had a fight last night, and I'm getting pretty fed up with his crap. He's not very reliable or consistent at all. I swear, he only calls about 50% of the time he says he's going to. And he gets unreasonably upset all the time and leaves or tells me to leave instead of talking it out with me. AND has the nerve to say that we don't communicate well. But when I point out that part of our communication issues are because he gets upset and leaves instead of talking, he gets upset. Really, it's a lose-lose situation, and I think he's about to be at a loss. It's too much to deal with, and I'm really starting to doubt that working things out is even worth it. /rant
There was my angry rant of the day, haha.
But I did have a very pleasant dream last night after the fight, surprisingly. I thought I'd be in for a horrible night's sleep, but it was pretty good :D It was quite a fluffy, cutesy dream with Teddy Geiger in it! Haha. I think that's because we had just seen The Rocker. So I actually woke up in a pleasant mood this morning, despite crying myself to sleep the night before. Go figure.
And to add to the pleasant morning, I went shopping with my dad and sisters today in Seattle and got two pairs of jeans, a pair of shoes, the cutest vintage wash leather jacket, and new headphones for my iPod.
So I guess it was a pretty good day, all in all. No call from aforementioned boyfriend-ish, but I wasn't really expecting one either.
OH! And, I think I've decided what I'm going to be doing in the future. I know I listed all those possible degrees before (computer science, creative writing, graphic design, apparel and design, political science, music composition/production, etc. etc.), but I think for now, I've decided to go to a technical school to earn my pre-vet degree. Totally different from my plans before, I know! But I think I'd be pretty good at it, and it's something I think I'd like doing :D
So I guess we'll see :D |

Yay, got some climbing AND some writing in today; how exciting :D I got to hold number fifty-five on the numbered traverse route at the climbing gym, yay me. That means I'm getting buffer! And my endurance is getting better :P
Anyway, I have an interesting story to share. Well, others might not find it interesting, but I think it is :P
I was getting ready to take a shower this morning, and there was a huge spider in the bathtub. HUGE. I'm not usually freaked out by spiders, but this was a pretty big, leggy guy. And he obviously wasn't going to get out of the bathtub himself. And I really didn't want to touch it. Or even get close to it.
So I decided to try to drown it, and let the drain take care of the body. I turned on the water, pulled the lever for the showerhead to come on, and waited. The water crept up to him, and dragged him in. He started flailing his legs and spinning around in circles, trying to swim to somewhere dry.
And I immediately felt super horrible. So I turned off the water, got a jar and a piece of paper, forced myself to scoop the poor guy up, and took him outside.
I thought that was an interesting story as far as character development goes, haha.
Okay, back to writing! |

| | Mika | ] | It's been raining the past two days, and it's just a reminder of 1) that I live in Washington and 2) that summer is winding down :(
So I've been stuck inside, working on some new Twilight quote icons for <lj user="rare_twilight">, working on my Twilight fanfiction Silent Dusk and a new one I just started, and watching One Tree Hill. I live a full life, I know.
I'm crossing my fingers that it stops raining this weekend so I can finally go wakeboarding again. I haven't even gone since my mom got back from her trip around the Puget Sound, which she left for last Thursday, and returned from this Monday. Which equates to...a full week of no boarding :P Even if it's still raining on Saturday and Sunday, I might go out on the lake anyway. I just hope it's not pouring, because the rain will sting when it hits my face :P
So the plan for today is to write two more pages of Silent Dusk, and go do some climbing at the Evergreen gym. Yay me. |

| Twilight Fanfiction Challenge |
[Aug. 14th, 2008|04:16 pm] |
Hey, this is my response to the first Twilight fanfiction challenge posted on the twilightffchall . It sounds like a nice little break from working on my Twilight fanfiction; maybe it'll even get me through a bit of writer's block. The portion of the prompt is italicized; my writing is just bolded.
